Bugurt (knightly battles)

Bugurt — is a team combat sport based on historical medieval combat, conducted according to strict safety rules with the use of protective equipment and sports weapons.

 

How the competitions are held

The fights take place on a specially prepared combat arena. The teams enter at the same time and engage in active contact combat until all opponents are eliminated. The fights are dynamic, intense, and require physical training, tactics, and teamwork.

Team

- Teams consist of 5 fighters
- Trained athletes with experience in historical
combat participate.
- Each participant has a clearly defined role in the team.

Weapons

A blunt replica of historical cold weapons is used, as permitted by the rules:
swords, axes, halberds other certified weapons without sharp elements.
All weapons undergo preliminary technical inspection.

Protective equipment

Participants perform in full protective gear:
- Metal or combined armor.
- Helmet with face protection, neck, arm, leg, and joint protection.
- Protection is mandatory and is checked before each fight.

How the winner is determined

The winner is the team:
which has more fighters left standing, or which has completely knocked out the opposing team.
The fight ends when all fighters from one team have touched the ground with any part of their body except their feet.
